A much-loved staple on the Melbourne events calendar, Moomba has been growing its profile since 1955 and is now recognised as Australia’s largest community festival. Each year the iconic festival attracts enthusiastic crowds of all ages to the banks of the Yarra to enjoy its bustling carnival and family-friendly program of free entertainment, events and activities over the Labour Day long weekend.
I decided to make my way to Moomba over the course of three days, I figured I’d get a different take on the days events each time I went there. Most days I used the Canon with 24-70mm and 135mm lenses though one night I used the Fuji with the 56mm lens which worked a treat with its light gathering abilities. Shooting at events I’d usually take the Canon 70-200mm though the 135mm was much easier to carry around, especially in the massive crowd.
